The closure of 44 Lloyds Bank and Halifax branches across England and Wales has been confirmed, bringing the group’s total for 2021 to 100.
We are starting to see more and more businesses reacting to the effects of the pandemic and the downturn in footfall and revenue. It’s proven to be a tricky period for employers as they look to the future and plan for a post-Covid world.
With restrictions extended for another 4 weeks (and no extension to the furlough scheme, despite many hotel & hospitality businesses calling on the government to extend it given many are still unable to trade or make profit), it’s likely to bring the prospect of redundancies into sharp relief for some employers, as they will be faced with the requirement to shoulder some of the CJRS costs from the 1st July 2021.
The next few months will prove crucial for many businesses as restrictions are eased – will we see more redundancies?
